Who we are
Koa Collective is named after the Hawaiian word “Koa” meaning “warrior” or “brave one.” The word shares a deeper meaning where it focuses on courage, resilience, and a deep respect for nature as the name also comes from the Koa tree which is significant in Hawaiian culture as the wood of the tree was used to craft canoes and surfboards.
While not being Hawaiian myself, I share a deep bond with Hawaii and truly admire the Hawaiian culture and I feel that it embodies the values and what I want to share with society hence the name. Putting together my values and passions to create the Koa Collective.
My goal with Koa Collective was to continue to build my own running community catering to all levels and abilities. We welcome those just entering the running world and also have programs dedicated to those that want to continue and pursue a more competitive career.
Founded by Dominique Guinnane — A distance runner, coach, and photographer tied up into one. Coach Dom has been a long distance runner and athlete for 20+ years and competed since middle school through college in cross country and track and field.
Her specialties were the 1500m, 3000m Steeplechase, and 5k in college and she continues to practice running today for the pure enjoyment of running and building a holistic program to continue working on her goals while also staying healthy and strong overall.
My current pursuits are to continue to work on my 1 mile and 1500m times while hopping into some 5k races once in a while.
Coach Dom has also been a long time coach for 10+ years, training athletes and individuals of all levels in track and field and long distance running.
